I have spent many evenings now pouring over guide books, maps and the NewZealand.com website working out what sites to cram in to my 23 days of travelling in my dinky van.
Everyone I seem to meet has been to NZ or knows some one who has and they were ‘blown away’ by the place!!! Invariably I then get a list of must sees and when I share my plans they pull a face suggesting I’m cramming too much in!
The flights are set so I have to get from Christchurch to Auckland. But I want to spend time enjoying BOTH islands..... I may never go back (already feeling that’s not true!) so want to see the best NZ has to offer..... I want stunning scenery, gorgeous walks and great food. I want to come home with a memory card packed full of epic images but not get tidied up in tourist themes and fake experiences.
I think I have more or less decided on the route. I now need to refine the sight seeing..... you’ll be surprised how many places you can see glow worms, penguins and hot springs.... do I need to see them all, probably not. So the research into what’s the best for me now begins linked in to where to stay over night and for how long.
The planning really is great fun and getting me excited about my Epic Solo New Zealand Adventure!
