Nats Epic Solo New Zealand Adventure

Wow, this is sneaking up quickly now! I can’t believe that in 33 days I will be boarding a plane to start my biggest adventure ever....
Excited? Yes.
Scared? A little..... but just think how much fun this is going to be.

Honest..... It’ll be fine... what could go wrong!

Amazon parcels have been arriving thick and fast for all those essential things a girl needs to be self sufficient in her van for nearly 4 weeks of travelling around what looks to be the most amazing country. Travel washing line, hiking poles, portable laundry thingy, trekking clothes... the list goes on!

I have followed a number of NZ related Facebook groups and my feed is constantly flooded with jaw dropping pictures of snow capped mountains, breath taking lakes and awesome views..... I only hope I can capture a couple of decent snaps from this journey.

I have found a great app.... Roadtrippers... it is allowing me to plan in much more detail my route, stop offs, camp sites, photo ops, trips and experiences..... it’s helping visualise what I am embarking on and where I probably need to be less ambitious, just relax, kick back for a few days and soak up this place.

I am almost ready to confirm the ferry dates for crossing from South to North Island and confirming with friends who live close to Wellington and others near Auckland when I will arrive to cause chaos!

It is all becoming very real....very soon the suitcases will be out and gradually filled.... walking boots, camera filters, maps, mosquito spray, water proofs, tripod, sun cream!...... so much to be thinking of and very quickly becoming so little time!

I have my Revolut card ready and XE alerting me of the best times to convert sterling to NZ dollars... this will hopefully mean I will get the best exchange rate so I have more dollars to spend!......... More trips and experiences.... I want to Kayak with whales, snorkel with wild dolphins & seals, see the Southern Lights, watch the sun set over a rare penguin colony, capture the Milky Way rising over jaw dropping mountains, see the sun rise reflecting in a glacial lake, find glow worms, chill out in a geo thermal pool, ride pillion on a Harley around Auckland, be catapulted through the air in Queenstown, oh, and sample the NZ wine....... I’m going to need dollar, dollar, dollar!.........

and almost as important.......... I need a road trip play list!

Damn, something else to plan!
