My Fijian Adventure

I was so tired last night that I slept through the 2am and 4am rooster crow. I did, however wake up at 6am to the sound of the church Lali, butI fell asleep to the church songs so I guess it evens out. I decided to go out for a walk and I ran into De, a Fijian woman who married an australian man and then moved there 11 years ago, she was visiting Fiji with her 3 sons. I chatted with her and played with her boys too. They invited me for lunch and when we finished eating,we went out to the mangrove forest to harvest herbal medicine, while the women were cutting the plants down, the kids took me to see the pigs, they were enormous and wild looking. When the kids started to climb the meter high fence, I was imagining what would happen if they fell in. I warned them that I didn't want to jump in after them and they laughed, but then the giant pig jumped up to one of them, she screamed and fell backwards, I caught her and she clung to me for the next 20 minutes. I felt bad for the poor girl, she was terrified. I started to to walk back home, but I ran into Naomi and she said there was a Fijian Iguana someone had caught, we walked over to a tree that a man was climbing, he pulled the lizard off a branch. He brought it down and handed it to me, I held it for a while and took some pictures. They named him Phillip.
