Sunday morning has the typical farmers market, and we had enough time for a quick walk through before going to the home of Maria and her family.
Today we cooked with Maria, who owns a winery here in Guardia. She is another home cook who is fabulous, and who has invited us into her kitchen to learn the ropes. We cooked with her helper, Raphaela and then were invited to dine with her entire family. What a pleasure!
Our menu was baked taglietelle (with a meat and vegetable sauce), then a veal roast, mashed potatoes and finished with a Torta Caprese (chocolate!!)

Guardia Sanframondi
Sunday morning has the typical farmers market, and we had enough time for a quick walk through before going to the home of Maria and her family.
Today we cooked with Maria, who owns a winery here in Guardia. She is another home cook who is fabulous, and who has invited us into her kitchen to learn the ropes. We cooked with her helper, Raphaela and then were invited to dine with her entire family. What a pleasure!
Our menu was baked taglietelle (with a meat and vegetable sauce), then a veal roast, mashed potatoes and finished with a Torta Caprese (chocolate!!)
After all the cooking, we joined the family for Sunday "lunch" and toasted our new-found friends with delicious wine from their winery. What could be bad, LOL!!
We "rolled" back to LaPampa (starting to feel like the Pillsbury dough-boy!) ... had a short turn-around time, and then back to Guardia for an evening dance performance at the church.
Below: the wonderful view of the sunset over Guardia Sanframondi from the top of the church.
Our guide, Alecia, is part of a dance group that performs the traditional dances of the area. (in traditional costume, of course!) They did a special performance for us and their family members. And, naturally, got us up to dance as well! Lots of fun and happily worked off a few of the calories from earlier in the day. I must say: most of the dancers are the same age as we are, and we could hardly keep up. (no photos of us dancing ... too busy on the dance floor!)
