Our morning began with Ellen and I having a mini adventure.... finding the mailbox store to ship some items home. It seems we got a little carried away on our shopping days in Guardia, and the bulk and weight were going to become a problem. So: into the taxi and off to find the place that will ship. It turned out to be fairly simple, and we managed to find the place and divest ourselves of an entire suitcase worth of goodies! LOL (we were pretty proud of ourselves).
THEN: back to the hotel, and off to Capodimonte.
What an amazing museum! It was highly recommended .. and they were right! The palace was built in 1734 by King Carlo di Borbone who wanted both a game preserve for hunting and a royal residence. It became the perfect setting for housing the Farnese Art Collection of the Bourbon era.
There are paintings, the famous china collections, decorative arts, and vignettes of "life" with manequins dressed in the richest fabrics of the era. What a treat!
