The Peru diary

Chicklayo, with a population of more than a half a million people, is a noisy, mad driving kind of town. We explored with our guide the witch doctor's market where one can find anything from aromatic herbs to hallucinogenic beverages. I assure you we only took photos!
The town was always of strategic importance with routes coming from the coast area, the highlands and the jungle.
A short drive away is Tucume, the valley of the pyramids that were originally settled by the Sican tribe and amazing artifacts of metal work can be seen at the museum.

Dined in a couple of restaurants, keep in mind that locals have their main meal between 3 to 4pm, as recommended by our guide and they were both excellent with the fish, lamb and goat portions we had. The highlight was the picarones - peruvian style donuts.
On the second day we toured Ventarron where we saw the oldest mural in the Americas, 4000 years old, followed by the Huaca Rajada of Sidan, a Mashu cemetery of six levels and saw what it was excavated at the Tumbas Real museum - including skeletons, ceramics, gold and silver artifacts.
