5. From Darwin to Cairns

1st october (pdv Emma)
to pay for the expensis of our trip, we had taken a one week job in a mango plantation, located not far from darwin. The week had gone without problems, apart from the fact from the fact that Jason had cut his finger, and as i am hematophobic i passed out, it was necessary that Jason, with the help of the farmer who had employed us, then a bucked of water at my face.

8 october(pdv Jason)
After a week of work, we went to visit the George brown botanic garden, located two hours north of the darwin CBD. We got there from the opening, around nine a.m, we went to see the fountains and passed by toadstall(an area of the park full of mushrooms) at half past twelve a.m, we went to see the plant exhibition hall, where we learned a lot about flora, to finish, we went for a walk in the rainforest, where we saw and heard many waterfalls
THE ENTRY IS FREE.

9 october (pdv Emma)
For the rest of our excursion, we went to Kakadu national park, located two hours from Darwin, we spent two days there.
There were many choices of tours, for our part, Jason and i tested the fishing and boating; i went fishing and were lucky enough to catch a

saratoga, a fish that is considered very special there, we of course realizeaded it, we are not monsters! We spent the night in the van, which we had pocked near the river.
The next day, we decided to spend our day walking around; for our like we took the Maguk walk, then we went to the monsoom forest where we observed a cor of colourfull birds. It was a very nice experience! The pice of the visit is 50 dollars for two people.

10 october(pdv Jason)
three p.m we had just left Kakadu park to go to Uluru, our next destination. The trip lasted 18 hours, after 8 hours of road, we stapped at daily water to refued and to sleep, we were both very thred and Emma fell asleep in the back seat during the trip.
it was 11p.m.
11 october(pdv Emma)
It was 11a.m and we had left the road for 4 hours, i was driving while Jason was dozing, sitting in the passenger seat.
(pdv Jason)5 p.m: we got off the van to admire the landscap; an aride plain, dotted with small stunted shrubs, and in the middle, the red Rock (or ayers Rock)
From the top of its 348 meters, it dominated the surroundings. The rest of the day was devoted to photo shoots, because Emma and i wanted to immortalize the day, we went to the biggest monolith in the

world.

13 october (pdv Jason)
our second night on the spot over, we were about to leave, but before let's make a summary of the amount of moneyspent for this partof the trip: in terms of gasoline, the Kakadu-Uluru trip cost us 179 dollars, and the visit of uluru was free, but, spending a night there cost 50 dollars.
It was 11a.m when Emma and i get in van, our next destination? Kuranda, an old mini city, located in the north of Qeensland, not far from Cairns. But between our point of arrival and our point of depart, there were 2415 Kms, and 25 hours of road.

We had to stop at mount îsa town to sleep, because even though Jason and i took turns driving, the trip very tiring.

14 october (pdv Jason)
~8a.m: Emma and i, left from mount isa 2 hours ago, we had 13 hours of travel left before arriving at kuranda.
15 october (pdv Jason)
We got at kuranda last night around 9p.m this trip cost us 242 dollars Emma and spent the restof the day sleeping in the van to recover from this long trip.


16 otobre (pdv Emma)
once we were fine, we went to test the Kuranda scenic railway, where for 260 dollars, we had the right to a panoramic tour of the surroun dings of Kuranda, the visit went well, exept the moment when the train suddenly stopped in the middle of a bend. beliering in a technical problem, Jason started to panic. But finally it was nothing, the train had stopped for us to admire the view on a beatiful waterfall.
Despite this fright, Jason and i loved this visit!

17 october (pdv Jason)
We then went ti the rainforestation natural park where Emma and i explored the rainforestation aboard an authentic duck of the second world wars (it's a boat), witnessed a traditionnal dance and met iconic australian animals (tasmani evil) We stayed there 2 days and the visit cost us 38 dollars.



19 october (pdv Emma)
We then decided to go to the Kuranda koala garden, this small zoological reserve where we can put and take photos of kangaroos, walabies and koalas.
While wanting to take photo, i got bitten by a koala that i had taken in my arms, Jason was laughing out loud. To be forgiven, we gone me a huge stuffed koala bear, the visit cost us 40 dollars.



20 october ( pdv Jason)
once this moment of tendress was over, we went for Barron national park.
On the first day we walked in the park, admiring the waterfalls.
On the second day, we put on life Jacket:to go rafting, it was a fun activity, even though: fell in thewater many times, the visit was free, but the rafting cost us 76 dollars.



22 october (pdv Emma)
After all these visit we went to relax at palm cove beach, we stayed there for 2 days.
On the first day we bathed and the crabs visited us (i was nipped by a crab, the animals definitely don't like me)
The second day was Jason's birthday, i decided him a spa treatment at Spa street, at 125 dollars for person. It was a very pleasant moment. it is the occasion to take him a beautiful gourmet restaurant called nunu his speciality was that we were directly on the beach at palm cove and we had delicious food on them barefoot. he loved the surprise the dishes were delicious we had it for about 100 dollars each it was sunny despite it being a little windy at the end of the

evening we went to admire the sunset.

24 october(pdv jason)
After this romantic moment, Emma and i returned to Kuranda to visit the butterfly sanctuary, the largest butterfly ..... in the country. There were thousands of butterflies, of all species, of all colours they weren't affraid by the tourists, they londed on people ! This incredible visit cost us 20 dollars.

25 october (pdv Emma)
the last stop on our excursion was daintree national park.

Jason and i spent 2 amazing days, exploing the rainforest and admiring the flora and fauna (this forest has bein around for 110 millions years, making it probably the oldest in the world).
The visit is free, but spending a night there cost us 20 dollars. *

27 october(pdv Jason)
Emma and i then went to Innisfail i a city located in the north of Qeensland to begin a new job in a sugar plantation.
