South Africa

I didn’t wake until after 8am & found a nearly cold cup of tea by my bed. After breakfast we walked down to bootleggers for a coffee, we had planned to continue walking along the path by the sea out towards Chapman’s peak only to discover the footpath finished about 500 metres past the cafe, we decided it was so bendy that walking along the side of the road wasn’t such a good idea, so we turned around & headed back towards Camps Bay. We wondered all the way along the strip & I looked in a few shops before heading back to the apartment. I was keen to get some ironing done before the power went off, the lady in the cafe said 2-4.30pm again for the power but it’s 2.35 & it’s still on & the schedule our host provided doesn’t have afternoon load shedding today, but does have 6-8.30 twice as well as 10-12.30am so we’ll see what happens. The power remained on.
We returned to The Hussar Grill for dinner as we did on our 1st night, & it was again delicious. We shared an ostrich & spring box carpaccio & Richard had the gemsbok for main (straight horn as Richard was calling them at The Karoo) with a side of boiled potatoes & I had fillet which melted in my mouth with fries, salad & bearnaise sauce, no additional corn tonight which was disappointing! We had a bottle of Jacobsdal Pinotage a 2014, it’s was amazing & it only cost about $25, an aged bottle of wine at a restaurant, we’d seen Malva Pudding on the menu often & tonight Richard was determined to try, it came with ice cream, chocolate & caramel sauce. The pudding was a sticky caramel pudding & was delicious, luckily we didn’t have far to walk home as we were very full.
