Friday morning we got the ferry from Koh Tao across to Chumpon. Took about 1 hour 45 mins. Then got on a VIP bus all the way to Bangkok which took around 10 hours. Actually not a bad ride. Got to Bangkok around 9pm. Checked into our hotel for the next 3 nights.
Saturday morning we had breakfast then made our way over to the railway station to get our train tickets to Chiang Mai. We had to get second class sleeper tickets to Chiang Mai and got first class sleeper tickets back to Bangkok. Then we went shopping. Found ourselves in a place called the Siam Centre where we managed to get a few bits. That evening we went to a bar overlooking the river where we had a few drinks and some nibbles.
Sunday we walked ten minutes from our hotel to a place called Talat Noir which is famous for its street art. Had a walk around there and took some photos then we went to a different shopping centre called IconSiam. Had to get a tuk tuk there as across the river. Steve managed to get some more heartburn tablets so worth the trip there.

Amazing upmarket shopping centre with a fantastic water feature and on the ground floor it had been made to look like a floating market with lots of food stalls. Sunday evening we walked down to Chinatown where we had street food and a walk around.
Monday we left our stuff at the hotel and went for a head, shoulder and foot massage. Very nice. Then we sat in a cafe for a while, didn't want to do too much as catching the train to Chiang Mai this evening.
Got a tuk tuk to the station. Train left on the dot at 6.10pm. Actually not too bad. It is a newer train apparently so toilets etc were all good. Steve had the top bunk, I had the bottom bunk. They came and made the beds up about 8pm. Didn't get a great nights sleep as the train noise was quite noisy and they don't turn the lights off so very bright, but overall not too bad.
