Our Thailand Travel Adventure

Saturday was moving day again....on to our next stop just a bit further north up the coast to a place called Wang Sai Resort. Booked a lovely room, this time overlooking the swimming pool. Beautiful big pool and no-one else around. It's like our own private pool. Unpacked then went for a walk to find a cash machine and somewhere to get our laundry done. Found both just around the corner. That evening we ate at the beach bar right on the beach in front of our hotel, watching the sunset....bliss!

Sunday we sorted out renting a scooter for 12 days. Steve went and collected it then we popped up to 7 Eleven to get some provisions in for the next few days. Had another lazy day around the pool and hotel - perfect.

Monday turned into another lazy day by the pool. We popped out in

We popped out in

the morning for a quick look at a possible view point for sunset drinks called Bar 360 only 4 mins away. The view was stunning so around 4.30pm we headed back up there to get a good seat ready for the sunset. Absolutely baking up there but so worth it to see the sunset in a really chilled bar.

Tuesday the 14, the day of the full moon party. We still hadn't made our minds up if we were going to go to the full moon party this evening. We had a relaxing day then late afternoon we went to watch the sunset. We both sat on a big wooden swing underneath a tree. Lots of people sitting around watching the sunset, very relaxing and quiet. Suddenly a small gecko fell out of the tree and landed on my thigh. I immediately jumped but he sat very still and looked quite nice so I decided to take a photo of him. Just as I was about to take it he decided to run up my leg under my shorts! Of course I screamed and jumped about shaking my legs. He fell out and ran off but not before

everyone watching the calming sunset had seen and heard me screaming and jumping around! Why did he fall on my leg and not Steve's? That incident led us into talking to some young English girls. They were going to the full moon party that evening so we asked them a few questions about it. When they said it doesn't start until around 10pm we made our minds up we wouldn't be going as we are normally in bed by then....!

Wednesday we decided to get out and do a bit more sightseeing after all our lazying around. We headed down the island and stopped for brunch at a lovely cafe called Flow Cafe & Eatery. Both had a lovely flat white and waffles with honey and fruit - delicious. Then we drove on to a place called Koh Rahman which is a restaurant right on the sea which is completely decorated in stuff collected from the sea like rope, fishing nets, coconut shells etc. Amazing place and just lovely to walk around and look at. On the way home the heavens opened

and we had some very heavy rain. We got back completely soaked through. That evening, because of the heavy rain, the pond near to our room was full of bull frogs all doing their mating calls. Apparently whenever there is heavy rain like that it brings them out and they were making noises all through the night. So loud we could hear it over the movie we were watching, incredible.

Thursday we were ready for another road trip so we packed up and headed to the east of the island to two beaches. The first one called Thong Nai Pan Beach and the second one Thong Nai Pan Yai Beach. Both beautiful beaches so of course we had to have a swim at each. On the way we stopped for brunch again, this time at a cafe called Bubbas Coffee and once again, delicious.

Friday after another chilling day we made our way down to Mama Market street food place near Zen Beach. We had some baked chicken, ribs and rice and a chicken stuffed tortilla each - lovely.

Saturday was a little overcast so we didn't go far. We had brunch at the hotel and went for a little walk. Later that evening we walked down to a local restaurant called Roots and ate Thai food there.

Sunday too was a little overcast so we went for a drive and had brunch at a place called Cups Up. Then came back and sat by the pool. That evening we found a local market down at Chalok Lam pier. Had a walk around the stalls then sat on the pier eating chicken kebab (delicious), mussel omlette that Steve raved over and some pork dumplings. Lovely evening.

The week of Steve's birthday we had a relatively relaxing week. Monday we went back up to Chaloklam Beach for a while. Tuesday, Steve's birthday we went out to Cups Up again for another lovely

brunch. Came back and sat on our beach for a while. Steve tried to do some snorkelling but it was too cloudy to see anything. We chilled by the pool then spent the evening at our hotel, had some beers on the beach watching the sunset then had some dinner there. After dinner I surprised Steve when the staff bought out a cake and sang happy birthday to him (I had pre-ordered the cake). We shared it with the staff as far too much for us to eat.

The rest of the week we didnt go too far. It rained and thundered most nights so we had the noise of that and then the noise of the frogs in the pond haha! Then the two dogs that lived at the hotel took a shine to Steve and they followed us wherever we went, even following us back to our room and sleeping outside on the veranda most nights! Steve loved it. He had made new friends. We decided to call them Bin Juice and Bambi as one of them smelt to high heaven and the other one had bambi eyes.

Friday was our last day here. On to Koh Tao on Saturday!
