Got a taxi from Phuket Town all the way to our next hotel, Number 4 for around £11. Was chucking it down when we arrived, the aftermath of a cyclone apparently. We couldn't check in until 2pm so we went across the road to a lovely cafe/bakery called Cannelle's. Both had a cappucino and a bit of lunch.
Checked in to our room. Very nice and clean and quite big with a separate kitchen. Unpacked and went for a walk down to the beach to get our bearings. Beach is lovely but the sea is quite rough. Sat on the beach for a few hours. Steve went in a few times for a swim but I just sat on the beach as it was way to rough for me. Just as we decided to leave the beach the heavens opened up so we went into a little beach side cafe/restaurant and had a quick dinner. I had chicken fried rice which was delicious and Steve had minced beef with basil leaves. I tried a fresh coconut juice for the first time. It was ok, quite refreshing but I'm not sure I would order it again. Tasted a bit like weak washing up water. Walked back to our room and had a crepe on the way, banana and Nutella for me and cheese and ham for Steve.

The next morning we woke fairly early. Got ready and walked up the road to hire a bike for 3 days. Set off for Nui Beach. Had to park the bike and walk 1.5km down to the beach as the road was too bad to drive on. Nui Beach was lovely but there was quite a bit of rubbish in the sea and it was very rough with a lot of rocks around so far to dangerous to swim in. Had a wander around the grounds and the different swings and chairs with fantastic views. Ended up paying 50 baht each (about £1 each) to get a lift back to where we had parked the bike. Much easier than trying to walk up in the heat.
Carried on driving towards Kata and stopped at a place called The Sundeck for coffee and pizza which had the most amazing views over Kata Noi beach. Then drove into Kata Noi to see the beach but it was quite choppy and no one was allowed in the sea so we didn't stay. We were told that Kata was a bit calmer so we headed to Kata beach
where we stayed for a few hours going in the sea and sunbathing. Then we headed back to Nai Harn beach and sat there for a while.
That evening we met up with a couple we met at Mango Tree Villas, Keith and Denise. We followed them to Rawai beach to a lovely restaurant overlooking the sea where we had a lovely evening. Good food and good company. Made a nice change. Bit nervous about driving back in the dark but it was only 7 mins away so not too bad!
The next morning we popped round to see where Denise and Keith were staying, right next to the posh hotel Nai Harn on the Beach. They had fantastic views over the sea - amazing. Then we drove on to the next beach along which was Ao Sane. Pretty little cove, lots of rocks and a little beach restaurant. We had an amazing club sandwich in the restaurant (which proved to be the best one of the whole trip), Once again the sea was pretty rough. We both went in the sea for a while but I wasn't in there for long. Steve stayed longer but unfortunately got pushed on to some rocks and came out the sea bleeding on his back and his foot. Luckily it looked worse than what it was!
On Sunday we went for an early morning walk around the lake which was lovely. Then we took a drive up to the Windmill View Point. Fantastic views. We then drove on to Promthep Cape, parked up and walked to the viewpoint where we saw an Hindu Elephant Shrine. There were hundreds of decorative elephants. Then we decided to go an sit on Yanui Beach for a while. Went straight into the sea to cool off. Unfortunately the waves were quite big and I got caught out by one and it knocked me completely over. Lost my sunglasses (which stupidly were on my head!). Came up spluttering and another wave came along and done exactly the same thing to me! Steve said he was waiting for my head to pop up but all he could see was my bum! When I did get up my bikini bottoms had moved so I panicked thinking I was showing my bum off to the beach haha. Steve was there to help sort me out and I eventually managed to get out of the sea and sat on my towel completely bedraggled, sand on my face, in
my hair, everywhere. We did laugh afterwards.
We decided to come back to the hotel so I could shower off the sand. On the way we popped into 7 Eleven and got a toasted sandwich and frappe cappuccino each. Then about 3pm we went back down to Nai Harn beach, rented two sunbeds and sat there for the rest of the day. Steve managed to persuade me to go in the sea again but I was clinging on to him! We stayed on the beach and watched the sunset until around 7pm then ate at one of the beach restaurants which was lovely.
On Monday we had arranged to meet Keith and Denise for brunch at 11am in Cannelles. We sat and chatted for a couple of hours then went to find a taxi to book to take us to Phang Nga tomorrow. Was going to try annd get there by bus but proving very difficult so decided best thing would be to opt for a taxi all the way there. Went for another walk around the lake then came back and done some packing. Ate locally.
