Day 59: Maggie Island and Toad racing

Today we took a long drive from Cairns to Townsville where we caught a ferry across to Magnetic Island. We got to the hotel on the island and had lunch straight away, my chicken burger was sooo good! After lunch we headed out on the Fort Walk where we went hunting for Koalas! We were so lucky to see 3 on our walk and we were even able to get up close to one of them. They’re the cutest things I’ve ever seen, so fluffy and cute and dopey! Finished the walk with some view points which allowed us to see more of the beautiful island! Headed back to the hotel to chill by the pool before we went to the beach to feed the wallabies. It took a while for them to surface but we managed to see 2 or 3! Had dinner with the gang at the hotel and then spent the evening at the Toad Racing Competition! This was the strangest event I have ever been to! People bet on toads, just like horse racing and then watch them partake in a race to the finish line! It was highly amusing and some of the toads were so fast!
