Summer is approaching, which means it's time for adventure and relaxation. In the mountains of the Austrian province of SalzburgerLand, you'll find the perfect combination of relaxation and active enjoyment.
Hiking across fragrant alpine meadows, enjoying the warm evening light on the mountains, and tasting local specialties in cozy mountain huts. Experience the mountains during a bike ride or hike ranging from an hour to a few days in length. Looking for more action? Try rafting, ice climbing, summer skiing, or canyoning. We're here to recommend four regions of SalzburgerLand where you can have an adventurous mountain vacation. On top of that, we'll tell you how you can win one of four all-inclusive vacations to SalzburgerLand.
The Grossarltal in central SalzburgerLand is known as "the valley of the Alpine meadows." In this thirty-kilometer-long valley, you'll find more than forty Alpine meadows. Explore the region by hiking or cycling from the two quiet villages of Grossarl and Bergsteigerdorf® Hüttschlag. Hike up to 350 kilometers on the Salzburger Almenweg or mountain bike along the 160-kilometer MTB cycling route. This'll be a physical challenge due to the significant differences in altitude, but after you're done, the local specialties will taste even better as you enjoy them on a sunny terrace. Ready for a day of relaxation? Take a leisurely stroll and have a picnic among the Alpine flowers or join a yoga class in the mountains.
Tip: Sign up for herb walks, yoga classes, or mountain hikes from the "Berg-Gesund" program, which you can participate in for free if you stay at one of the initiative's partners.

In winter, the impressive mountains of the Salzburger Sportwelt region are a winter sports paradise. In summer, they become a haven for hikers and cyclists. On the over 500-kilometer-long mountain biking network, you'll ride through seven bike-friendly regions: Flachau, Wagrain-Kleinarl, St. Johann, Radstadt, Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, Eben, and Filzmoos. Here, you can rent bikes, ride downhill, perform stunts in the bike park, and push yourself to the limit during the "Stoneman Taurista" (a 123-kilometer-long mountain bike challenge with 4.500 meters of altitude that you complete in two or three days). For hikers, there's an extensive 1.000-kilometer-long network of trails. Take day hikes or hike from mountain hut to mountain hut to experience culinary delights or cozy overnight stays.
Tip: Attention bike enthusiasts! The first e-bike festival will be held from July 24th to 26th in this very region. Try out the latest bikes during a test ride in the mountains or join one of the themed bike routes.

In the Wildkogel Arena, the mountainous region of the Hohe Tauern National Park, you can enjoy breathtaking views while participating in adventurous activities. At the foot of Austria's fourth highest mountain, the 3,666-meter-high Grossvenediger, lie the regions of Neukirchen and Bramberg. The accommodations in these regions are excellent starting points for mountain adventures. Combine hiking and (e-)biking on the way to the Thüringer Hütte at 720 meters altitude or the 3,022-meter-high Larmkogel mountain. Looking for a unique mountain experience? Search for emeralds in the Habachtal valley, spot wildlife in the Sulzbachtal valley, or race from the cable car station of the 2,224-meter-high Wildkogel down to the valley in a mountain kart. At the top of Wildkogel, you'll find a fun playground for younger adventurers.
Tip: At 160 selected accommodations in the Wildkogel Arena, you'll receive the Nationalpark Sommer Card as a gift with your overnight stay. With this card, you can travel for free on cable cars, public transport, and hiking taxis, and get discounts on admission tickets.

The Flachau region is the destination for families who want to embark on mountain adventures together. The outdoor paradise of Flachau is located between the Dachstein and Tauern mountain ranges and offers the perfect combination of relaxation in the valley and exertion on the mountainsides. Take the kids mountain biking on one of the 45 designated routes or choose your own path on the 500-kilometer network of mountain bike trails. Prefer hiking? Join one of the hiking guides on a themed hike through the alpine meadows or along culinary stops at mountain huts. You can experience even more action by going mountain karting, rafting, or spelunking. Especially for children, there's also a roller coaster, two climbing parks, and of course, plenty of lakes that are perfect for an afternoon of fun at the waterfront.
Tip: With the Flachau Sommer Card, which you receive when you stay in Flachau for at least two nights, you can use cable cars for free as well as participate in guided hikes and other activities for free.
