South East Asia Adventures!!

Day 67 ... We landed in Langkawi, after a half hour delay, at around 6pm. It only took a 20 minute taxi ride to the hotel. Lovely views form the hotel across the dock and out to the other islands nearby. We had dinner at the hotel although not the best, we haven't had much luck with food recently. Malaysian food isn't the greatest!

Day 68 ... After realising that the aircon in our room was filling our room with cigarette smoke anytime someone had a fag in a nearby smoking room, which happened at 10pm, 7am and 8am. We got up to have breakfast in the hotel (which also wasn't anything special) and went to reception to ask if we could move rooms, which they immediately agreed to and something told me this wasn't the first complaint about the issue. We then hired a scooter after breakfast for the next 5 days and went on a little mooch around the island to see what's around. We found Pantai Cenang Beach which is nice, went for lunch at Sun Cafe and then back to the hotel to change rooms. We needed to do some research/bookings for

Malaysia - Langkawi - Resorts World Hotel - Day 67 - 72

Krabi, Thailand as we've decided to go a week earlier but annoyingly they have all gone up considerably since yesterday.

Day 69 ... Well the blackout curtains in our room certainly do their job, we didn't wake up until 10am this morning, not sure if it's because of a little lingering jet lag from KL or if we're just being lazy, either way, we got up and did a The Body Coach 15 minute Hotel HIIT workout. These meals out are catching up on me, especially because we're having trouble finding healthy food to eat in Malaysia! Although we did try Hummingbird Cafe this morning for breakfast (lunch!) and they did omelettes and yogurt, fruit and granola so we'll probably go back here every morning for breaki! Then we went to Pantai Cenang beach for the afternoon, lunch (2nd lunch) at Thirstday beach bar and another winner on the food front, at last! I risked ordering a chicken caesar salad and it paid off, it was a 7/10 which will do for me! After a bit more Krabi research at the hotel we went to Haroo (Korean) restaurant for tea where we met a super friendly and enthusiastic waiter. He talked us through the menu and told us what were his personal favourites and which were 'nothing to shout about'! He then told us about a couple of nearby places to eat, one was for banana fritters and another was for fried chicken, but the chicken wasn't anything to shout about he said, it's the sauce that was amazing, although I'm not too sure I'd want to eat some dry fried chicken just to taste the sauce, so I don't think we'll take him up on any of his recommendations. After we finished our meal, he came over with a bottle of aloe vera watered down into a spray for mosi repellent, he told us to close our eyes and continued to spray all over our faces, then our arms and asked me to lift my hair up to spray the back of

my neck. He asked us if we were models and said we were a very good looking couple (he must be after a tip!) As we were leaving he said 'long live the queen'. He was a great character and we left smiling! The food wasn't too bad either!

Day 70 ... More heights!! After breakfast at our favourite new cafe (Hummingbird Cafe) we went to find somewhere to do our laundry, but unfortunately the place I found on Google maps was a DIY coin laundry place...WHAT?! We don't do our own laundry...!! So we decided we would

take our dirty washing back to the hotel and get it done in Thailand instead. On the way back to the hotel I spotted a place and so we took all our dirty laundry there and can pick it up tomorrow. After that, we embarked on the 40 minute scooter ride (a long time for your bum to be on a scooter, believe me!) to the Skycab cable car place. We paid our £22 and got in the enormous queue for the cable car. It was sweltering! Luckily, Adam was taking notice and saw one of the employees looking for couples to make up the 6 person cable cars, so we skipped allll the way to the front of the queue and straight on to the car. We must have saved at least 20 - 30 minutes waiting in the queue, winning! We got to the viewing deck and had a look around and then up again on another cable car to the next level. We managed to do the same again and skip to the front of the queue, there must be plenty families of 4 and not many couples! The views from the top were amazing. It was almost like being in a ski lift in France, apart from it felt like a greenhouse inside and not an igloo! All in all, a much better trip up than the KL Tower we went up in Kuala Lumpur with much better views and half the price! We then went to find a little place called Smiling Buffalo on the way back for lunch and a lovely dinner on the beach watching the sun set at Cba restaurant. The most expensive meal we've had so far at about £36, but by far the best, lovely and fresh, no stale chicken tasting as though it was cooked a week ago like I got from Sun Cafe in my chicken satay!

Day 71 ... No idea why we're struggling to wake up in Langkawi but another lazy morning, then to our local for our usual breaki and on to the beach for some sunshine! Adam had a go wakeboarding for

15 minutes and was absolutely shattered afterwards. On our way back to the hotel at 4pm, we stopped off to pick up our laundry, just in time for heading to Thailand on Friday. Once we had found an ATM after a couple of loops of the one way system, we went to a pizza place I spotted for dinner, good job we found that on our last night out on the scooter as the pizzas were great and we probably would have gone back if it was earlier in the week.

Day 72 ... Our last day in Langkawi, we have to drop the scooter off at 10.45am so we went to our local for breaki and nipped to a bakery we found yesterday to pick up a couple of cranberry bagels for our breakfast tomorrow as we're up and off to the airport early in the morning. We also picked up a brownie to share as a little treat while we're at the hotel today as were just using today as a coding and Krabi research/packing day while we don't have the scooter.
