Happy New Year!

Most things are closed on New Year's day in Buenos Aires. We walked down to the La Recoleta Cemetery where Eva Peron's grave is. There are rows upon rows of both ornate and decrepit mausoleums. Some of the families no longer have the money to keep up the mausoleums.

It was kind of creepy seeing multiple coffins through the glass including little ones that obviously have children in them.

The Duarte mausoleum, where Eva Peron's coffin is located, is on a narrow ally and other than the black marble, is not very ornate. Her coffin is buried 5 m below ground. People leave flowers there both plastic and real.

The day was the hottest and most humid day that we have had so we were tired from all the walking.

We stayed home for dinner, played pool and watched World Juniors and had a great evening.
