My diary

It was an auspicious start to our stay last night. We ha a dinner reservation at 8:30 and ordered by about 8:45. Those that ordered appetizers, a salad and two gazpachos, did not receive them until about 10:20. We kept asking when our food would arrive and were met by sheepish smiles. Eventually we walked out at about 10:45. The young servers did try and make up for it and delivered a tray of meat and cheese and a bottle of wine at 11:00. Apparently the chef had some meltdown and was "overwhelmed".

However, today made up for it. After breakfast we sat by the pool for awhile as all the bikes were taken. We walked to a nearby winery - Cornado Family - and it was wonderful. The fifth-generation owner, Paolo, was great. She walked us around the winery and then we had a very good tasting along with meat and cheeses.

Their little dog, Lila, took after an iguana in the fields which was something to watch. Apparently she never catches them but does chase them away as they are a nuisance and they eat the grapes.

We left Campotinto and went to dinner about 6 km away at Basta Predo. It was a very relaxed dinner on the river with great pizzas. It is in what appears to be this luxurious beach club that is gated with security but the restaurant was very casual.
