Today's adventures took us to Kensington Palace, which was quite frankly one of the places I was most excited to see. Had we not ended up going as an entire group, I was hoping to make a separate trip there during free time, at least to see the gardens. However, the chance to go inside and experience history was even more intriguing.
Upon arrival, the first thing the group saw was a large goose, appearing to be about to eat a small child. This further added proof to the theory geese are vicious creatures. In addition, there were many, many swans. Right outside the entrance, there was a gorgeous statue of Queen Victoria, which had been designed by her daughter.
The design work inside of the palace was amazing. Down the first hallway, there were many drawings of clothing which had been made for Princess Diana, ranging from daywear to her maternity dresses. It was amazing to get the chance to see these sketches, some of which even had images of her wearing the garments.
Continuing on, there were rooms which were designed to look like the original chambers of the royal family many years ago. It was very interesting to get to see these, as obviously the days when Kensington Palace was first used were a different time.
Something I found very interesting about the different exhibits was the ability to get to see an extension of the crown jewels. While they were not the true crown jewels, there were three tiaras in a glass case, all of which had been worn by members of the Royal family.
Not only was the interior of the Palace amazing, but the gardens were beautiful. I was able to find the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain and admire it for a few moments. It was very calming and I wish I could have spent more time there. After much searching, I was also able to find the Peter Pan statue. Kensington Gardens are mentioned many times in the musical Finding Neverland, so I was very anxious to find this statue.
After leaving the gardens, Phoenix, Emma, Zoe, and I, went over to Leicester Square. We indirectly attended the premiere of Aladdin, since they had blocked off the entire area. We also went to both the Lego and M&M stores, before heading to the Criterion Theatre.
If I thought that The Play That Goes Wrong was funny, The Comedy About a Bank Robbery made my sides ache. There were times when I physically felt as though I couldn't get my laughter out since it was just joke after joke. Mischief Theatre has created yet another masterpiece here.
Post-show, the four of us ventured to the stage door, where we were able to talk to six of the cast members. It was so great to get to have that one-on-one conversation with them, which isn't something you normally get at a stage door.
I am so happy to have gotten to experience this show. It is hard to believe that this was the last one we got to see in London!
