London 2019: International Theatre Tour

We all made it to the airport in one piece!

We left Sweet Briar at 2:00 pm, which was right on schedule. For those who don't know, being on schedule is not something that is common at Sweet Briar. Normally things start at least five minutes late. Regardless, we left on time, drove for a bit, and then reached the lovely gas station.

Now, this was not your normal gas station. There were many wonderful novelties which you do not find in a regular run of the mill gas station. Things which included:

- Coon hats (It was suggested we bought matching ones. This suggestion was quickly vetoed)
- Beanie Babies (Including ones with the sequins which flip over and reveal a different color)
- Much VA is for Lovers merchandise
- Some nice local honey
- Wine and Beer
- Gas, obviously.
- Fudge
- A self-serve fried chicken bar
- There were also the typical gas station snacks. They did have corn nuts, but only the plain ones. No other flavors.

From there, we left with our newly purchased aux cord, and we were able to actually have some entertainment for the remainder of the drive to the airport. Upon arrival, we sat... and sat... and sat... Until finally we were all here and were able to actually go check in. Then we got to security, which was an interesting time. A bag full of charging cables for various electronics apparently counts as "suspicious".

Once we *finally* made it through security, then there was even more walking to get to the actual concourse where our gate was. For those who have never been, the Dulles Airport is HUGE. Many interesting things were seen on the hunt for food, especially those that involved Washington DC merchandise (Side note: there was a duck of our current president next to a duck of Rosie the Riveter. It was an interesting juxtaposition.) A group of us got Pizza Hut for dinner, then went to Starbucks, of which there are many in this airport!

Other interesting things seen today include cows, goats, a license plate saying "Please Help" (Owner of that car: Are you okay?), and a lonely hat sitting at the entrance to the terminal. I'm attaching a picture of that here.

It was a shame since I don't think the owner of the hat was coming back to claim it. But oh well.

Our flight to London should be boarding soon, and then it's time to sleep. We're all ready for an adventure!
