London 2019: International Theatre Tour

Today began as usual with class discussion, although it was much earlier than all of the other days. We mainly discussed Come From Away, and how we were all completely drawn in by it.

The big adventure of the day today was a backstage tour at the National Theatre. To be completely honest, I was not as intrigued by this tour as I had been with other museum visits or tours. It seemed as though it was geared mainly towards the general public, not theatre students. However, it was very interesting to get to see two of their different theatres, along with their scene shop. I would have liked to have gotten the chance to visit their costume shop as well, but that was on a separate tour.

Our journey then took us to Chinatown, where we dined at Beijing Dumpling. We went to a few shops but for the most part, it was nice to just take in the sights. The three of us were also able to finally get doughnuts from Doughnut Time, which appeared to be a popular store around London.

The only other major event which happened today was getting to see Matilda at the Cambridge Theatre. I have always loved this story, and I appreciate what they did with the musical. While it was not completely the same as the

The only other major event which happened today was getting to see Matilda at the Cambridge Theatre. I have always loved this story, and I appreciate what they did with the musical. While it was not completely the same as the

original book by Roald Dahl, it still included many of the same aspects. For example, Matilda's revenge against her parents, as portrayed through her song "Naughty". My favorite part, however, was the relationship between Matilda and Miss Honey.

This was the last show which we got to see as a full group. Out of all of the ones we have seen, my favorite is probably a tie between Come From Away or The Play That Goes Wrong. As the two were so different, it is hard to choose just one.

While today was certainly not the most exciting day, it was a very eventful one. It is hard to believe we only have four full days left!
