We really want to visit Fort Sumter National Monument so we are headed over there. The distance from Montgomery Alabama to Fort Sumter National Museum is 455.4 miles and 6 hours with 46 minutes. After about 6 hours and 50 minutes we are at a hotel near Fort Sumter, named Econo Lodge Coliseum. We spent $73 dollars to stay at the hotel, and for the trip the gas was $68.31. Once we got to the hotel we unpacked everything and went straight to the museum read lots about the museum, once we got their we learned lots about The battle of Fort Sumter like that it began April 12, 1861 which was the American Civil War. The battle was located at the entrance of the harbor of Charleston, South Carolina. Two exhibits that were very interesting throughout the museum were on how it talked about general Beauregard was directed to demand the fort’s evacuation. If the Federals refused to leave, he was authorized to use whatever means necessary to force them out. Another exhibit talked about ships being forced to enter the harbor from the south, so they can't fire the fort till they reach the harbor. Fort Sumter added its firepower to keep ships out of the harbor. After we looked around the museum people talked about going to a ship close by called the USS Yorktown. We had to look it up and see if it was interesting at all. We found it and put the gps so that we could go and visit it. While we were headed over there Jessica read lots of information on it such as that the USS Yorktown is one of 24 Essex-class aircraft carriers built during World War II for the United States Navy. It is named after the Battle of Yorktown of the American Revolutionary War. Once we got their the ship was so huge. The entrance fee to get into this huge

aircraft carrier is $22. Once we got in we saw all the airplanes that were in it and that were outside to it was amazing. After about an hour of being there we left and went to go eat at a Charleston Harbor Fish House. We ate fish and the food wasn't that good we were just hungry and in a hurry to eat. We also saw that I guess that Charleston is known for its chicken and fish but the fish we got wasn't that good.
