NATURE!!! This was me internally screaming with excitement when we arrived in Annecy. Majestic views of the mountains were everywhere I looked. After being in the city of Paris, it was a breath of fresh air... literally. Hiking and being away from the city did me a world of good.

Seeing a different part of French culture was also super fun. Instead of staying directly in Annecy, we stayed in a town about 20 minutes away called Lathuile. The small town atmosphere was genuinely comforting and the people extremely nice. Most of our time was

spent hiking or going to and from the store. The closest grocery store was about two and a half miles away, so the walk there and back would take up a good part of the day. There was also a cute fresh vegetable shop about a half mile from where we were staying which was fun to shop at.

One of the days we went to the store we also decided to eat at a restaurant in the same town. This was the first restaurant that I had gone to where the waiter did not know any English. In an attempt to let us know what food was going to be served, he waved me into the kitchen and showed me the food which they were preparing. The food at this restaurant was hands down the best meal I have had in France so far.

On our last day, we spent the day in the town of Annecy. Annecy is sometimes called the little Venice of France for the canals that are all throughout the city. Everything about the city was beautiful. Even the backdrop of the French Alps gave the city a charming feel. The deserts looked too good to eat and the shops were filled with colorful clothing, jewelry, and not to mention the hats. Leaving the city left my heart heavy. I felt I was leaving a unique place that although I hope to, I may never visit again.
