Paris Study Abroad

The salon, mentioned in the podcast, was in the house of Madame Manet. It was a place were great artiest could go and gather inspiration from other painters. They drew off each other's ideas and creativity. The help of other great artist inspired the desire to be better and work harder. It is thanks to the salon that we are blessed with so many beautiful paintings by the impressionists. Many of these works can be seen today at Musee d'Orsay.

As I was walking through the museum, one of the paintings which caught my eye was The Rue Montorgueil in Paris. This was painted by Claude Monet. It is a painting in which you can clearly see the nationalistic spirit of France. It is thought to be a painting of the French National Day, but it was not. It was a painting of a festival that year called "peace and work". It really captures the celebration. It made me think of everything that France had been through up until that point. Despite all France has gone through, they still have love for their country.

and seeing all the beautiful, famous paintings was an amazing experience. There is so much history and life in each painting. Unlike the Louvre, there was more of a lively feeling to the art. This is something that I love about the impressionists; they express life so well.
