We decided to stop at magnetic island as we heard there was a cool koala sanctuary there. We went with the swiss guy, Solomon, who was with us on the Whitsunday's. We actually stayed at the sanctuary, which was nice but soooo hot as there was no aircon. Even the pool and sea were warm so it was hard to get any relief from it.

We did a trek up to an old WW2 fort and around the coast. It was a nice walk but we went at mid-day which was retarded. It was the hottest trek of my life and we were dripping with sweat the whole time. After 2 and a half hours we hit the beach and cooled off in a netted swimming area.

Magnetic island, Australia

We had randomly bumped into Libby and the girls earlier so decided to have a bbq on the beach with them. It was a nice evening with some beers, chicken and potatoes (that refused to cook).

We did the wildlife tour the following day where we got to hold a turtle, a snake, some lizards, a baby croc, a parrot and a koala. At the end we were allowed to feed to wild parrots which was great fun. They would land on your head, shoulders, hands, arms and anywhere they could grab onto to get the food.

After nearly catching the bus to Brisbane instead on Cairns we moved onto our final stop on the east coast.
