Rainbow beach was just a gateway to Fraser Island. We had a much needed rest day before our Dingo's tour, where we planned to relax by the pool and use lots of the free internet. However at about 10 a stereotypical Australian surfer, with long blonde hair, asked us if we wanted to go on an adventure. Naturally we said yes, and so he took us and 5 others in the back of his car, picked up some paddle boards and headed to the beach. He passed around a few joints and then we went out paddle boarding to see some sea turtles. It was a beautiful day, the paddle boarding was great fun, and we actually saw about 10 turtles only meters from our boards.
The next morning we packed our car and trailer with food, alcohol and clothes to last us the 3 days. Our group consisted of an english couple, 2 irish girls, 2 german girls and me and Henry. It was a fun group, the only problem being that only 3 of us could drive. And after experiencing one of the Germans driving we doubted whether her licence was actually valid.
On the first day we went to lake Wabbi, which included an excruciating 40 minute walk through the forest and desert. The lake itself was very nice

Rainbow beach was just a gateway to Fraser Island. We had a much needed rest day before our Dingo's tour, where we planned to relax by the pool and use lots of the free internet.
The lake itself was very nice
and we spent an hour there before heading back to the convoy. We were driving in a convoy of 4 cars, each with 8 people in them. On the next stint one of the cars broke down, so the rest of us went to camp while our leader drove to pick them up. We also saw 2 dingos on the beach which was a nice addition to the drive. Our camp was sets of tents, with a central kitchen and eating area, and a nightclub which was never used.
After cooking we got very drunk, played some games, star gazed on the beach and crashed out in the tents. Day 2 we visited hangover creek first to swim and relax, before going to the famous Fraser island shipwreck. It is an impressive wreck with a cool backstory to go with it. We took our pictures and went back to get lunch. In the afternoon we drove to Champagne pools, a rock pool we were allowed to swim in because it is protected from the sharks, and a view point
where stingray and shark viewings are possible. Unfortunately the rain had come in, so with visibility being poor we left early and returned to camp. That night not quite as much goon was drunk, I still managed to fall asleep by the fire for a couple of hours while stargazing, and we got an earlier night.
On our third and final day on Frazer we went to the beautiful lake Mckenzie, which was one of the nicest lakes I've ever been too. We relaxed for a few hours and then headed to the mainland. However the tide had come in so we couldn't take the beach route. We turned around and went down a closed inland road which was just wide enough for the car. With the sand being soft we had to keep up a reasonable speed, which was difficult for the german girl driving our car, as she is used to driving on the left. We took a bend and, miscalculating the corner, she drove into a tree. We rode up the tree until it snapped, the wheels hit the ground and we sped off down the track. Apart from few screams everyone was ok and we carried on without incident.
We got back, unloaded, and had a much needed shower.
