Miklos & Tori's Japan Adventures

Let’s take a moment to talk about Gifu, Japan. This is where Tori works, and we both love this part of Japan! We very frequently hear people talk about beautiful countries around the world, but we never hear people add Japan to that list. While we are happy to see that Japan is on many peoples’ radar, meaning they either have visited or would like to visit the country, it does still make us wonder why people have not recognized the country’s beauty. Our theory is that when people typically do come to visit Japan, they have a limited amount of time in the country. A typical itinerary would include Tokyo, Kyoto,

Osaka, and maybe Hiroshima. Most people would probably venture about by train, high speed train. We think this causes people to miss seeing the countryside, and the countryside is where you see the beauty! Take a look at some photos we have snapped out in Gifu! The beauty we have seen in this country does not begin or end in Gifu, but maybe it can give you an idea of what the country really has to offer! Imagine—rice fields everywhere, big birds (cranes for example) in the rice fields, mountains and hills everywhere often times with a stream or lake running right along next to it. This is Japan!

Also, check out one of our favorite eateries in Gifu, UOBEI! Ok, ok, yeah—this is not a local Gifu chain. It is a chain that can be found in many places in Japan, but we never

stumbled upon it in Nagoya, and we really love it!

I believe in previous blog entries we have mentioned kaiten sushi (conveyor belt sushi), and one of our favorite places to eat in Japan is Sushi Ro (also kaiten sushi)! What is super cool about this place, though, is that the food get delivered on a train, or a race car! How fun is that? Also, while many kaitan sushi places do offer some of the same sushi dishes, there is some variety in their menu, so that keeps things exciting as well!
