We made our way by train to Kanazawa, Kanazawa is a small city and reminded me of Geelong in many ways just not on the water and no wool museum. We headed to Kenroku-en, a very large and beautiful garden with lots of ponds, gardens and a spectacular view of the city. After a nice peaceful meander through it, we started towards our hotel (http://www.apahotel.com/hotel/hokuriku/07_kanazawa-chuou/english/) This is a chain hotel and it was very clean but the room was tiny! Walking through the town it came to my attention that all the Japanese drive really small cars, and vans, and trucks

come to think of it.
For dinner we tried a sushi restaurant recommended by Lonely Planet called Janome-sushi Honten ?http://www.lonelyplanet.com/japan/central-honshu/kanazawa/restaurants/sushi-sashimi/janome-sushi-honten?. If you are ever in Kanazawa I highly recommend it too, the flavours were very delicate and the service excellent, BF tried the Sake, Im more of a beer girl myself. While eating we met a really lovely guy, who made us try some of his food, he had been to Australia several times, to Queensland and Sydney. He said is big dream is to go barramundi fishing. I told him my stepfather goes barramundi fishing and showed him some pictures on face book, he was very impressed and I think my stepfather may have become this man`s new hero. After this we went to a German themed pub, not really anything special. On the way back we ducked down a side alley and came across this little bar with a submarine door. The bar seemed to have some sort of cuban theme, but the bar tender spoke excellent English and we ended up chatting with two locals who were seated next to us. They were using us to brush up on their English I think. I taught the younger one how to say "give me a G & T NOW!" which was pretty funny. We talked about Australia, video games, the baseball and soccer and their Jobs, they were both mechanics (or as they referred to it, car engineers.)
All in all a great night spent with some great people.
