Germany 16.5.17 - 10.6.17

Munich
Today was “that” day. You know; that day you’ve worn about everything that you packed and you’re desperately applying more deodorant to things that already smell bad. It’s been 28 degrees for over 5 days now and you only packed for moderate to mild warmth – not heatwave. It’s that feeling you get when you’ve been camping and haven’t showered for days, haven’t slept well for days because you’ve basically been sleeping on the ground and you feel like you’re covered in grime from head to toe. Someone needs to put you in a hydraulic high pressure machine and wash you clean. Today was “that” day.
Drove to Munich but couldn’t check into out tiny one room apartment till 3pm so parked and took the train into town and wandered aimlessly. Beautiful Rathaus in the Munich town square and some beautiful old architecture and the old justice building is particularly fine. However, it was hot and we were dressed inappropriately again as the weather google said it was meant to be 24 with a thunder storm but it was actually fine, sunny and 28’C… again! I also sprained my stupid weak left ankle on the slight lip they have in Germany between the bike path and the pedestrian path. A quick trip to the Apotheke for strapping tape and a nurofen (which I had in my bag, good nurse that I am) and I was at least able to walk with a passable limp.
Not wanting to waste the day we decided what else would you do on a sprained ankle than tour the most enormous palace in the whole of Germany so that was exactly what we did. ?????? palace info…….
Back to apartment after that and off to dinner at a Greek restaurant – most unusual! They still couldn’t manage any vegetable past lettuce and tomato but at least there were no potatoes. On a plane to London tomorrow morning at 0720 so have to be up at 0415. Oh Curl Beast!
The good news….. as I type this I can see the lightening flashing as the storm makes its way over Munich about 8 hours too late!.
