One specific aspect of this trip has brought me much joy...and that is the food! The French take their food very seriously, and I am all about it. Everything tastes so fresh, and most of what you find in the grocery store is proudly labeled "Produit de France." Fresh, organic food is easy to come by, and relatively inexpensive...there is an entire section at the supermarket that offers fresh produce for one euro! Something else that is incredibly important to mention is the coffee. Coming from someone who values and frequents each of the Tulsa coffee shops, the coffee here is incomparable. I could drink this stuff nonstop if I didn't have any self-control (I'm barely hanging on at this point). It is incredible. I have been to three specialty coffee shops thus far and thoroughly enjoyed these...however, even just the cafes on the side of the street have wonderful coffee. I haven't had a bad cup yet, and at this rate, I don't really expect to. Upon telling people back home that I was going to study abroad in Paris for a semester, the main response I got was to the effect of, "eat as much as you can! France has the best food in the world." I have taken this advice to heart and eaten everything I can. I didn't struggle with the "freshman 15," however, the "France 15" might be a reality for me (and frankly, I'm not too upset about it).
