My Journey Abroad

The bus trip between Amsterdam and London would be too long so I split it up and take a day trip to Brussels, Belgium right in between. I didn’t know anything about Brussels so I came with no expectations. The bus dropped everyone off and I was automatically caught off guard. Everything around me looked so torn up, dirty and old - including the subway stations. I didn’t have much of an agenda so I checked into my AirBnb and headed towards the touristy main streets. I honestly didn’t feel too safe and it was a bit scary walking the streets in my neighborhood until I got to the main area. I’m not sure if it is just that neighborhood I was staying in or if all of Brussels was like that but I certainly didn't get a good first impression. But, it was a perfectly warm, sunny day outside so I was knew more people than usual are expected to be out exploring.

I checked out the main square called The Grand Palace that looks like a square castle and is actually strikingly beautiful. Some parts of the castle were even covered in gold pieces. It has a lot of cute little streets all around and many restaurants and shops in between. There were so many Belgium chocolates stores everywhere and waffle shops on every corner. The best part about Belgium though - the waffles. They were so good that I couldn't resist and had two. Honestly, could of probably had more and wish I could buy some to take home. Although I was a bit astonished at first, Brussels turned out to a pleasant day trip. I really wish I had more time to explore and see a lot more than the glimpse of what I saw. Of course, this gives me more reason to come back!
