John and Selina's Drive Across Country

This will probably turn out to be our longest day on the road. We left Lexington, KY at 8 am Eastern and arrived in Independence, MO at around 6 pm Central.

Beautiful rolling hills and horse farms outside Lexington. We had a nice view of the St. Louis Arch as we drove through that city. That's where we crossed the Mississippi River. We crossed the Missouri River twice.

We stopped for about an hour and half in McCutchanville, IN, near Evansville. Amanda's maternal grandfather, Thurston McCutchan, was from there. He died in WW II and was lost at sea. We visited the McCutchanville Cemetery.

Upper left: Marcus Cicero McCutchan, Selina's great-great-great uncle. He figured out a way to fight on both sides during the Civil War.

Upper right: Rose Ogden McCutchan, Selina's great-great grandmother.

Lower left: Before we left home, Amanda threw herself into a project, labeling a lot of our stuff. So I keep finding things with labels on them.

Lower right: Our drive is being fueled by unleaded gas and home made chocolate chip cookies.

So on Tuesday it's on to Harry Truman's library and Oz.
