Laura and Nico visit Gold Coast for Christmas.

Laura arrives alone as she enjoys much longer holidays than Nico. Nico will join us all on Boxing Day. The first week spent with Laura on her own was largely made up of shopping at the outlet centre to re stock her wardrobe along with nice lunches out with Karen and her mum. Of course Kevin and I were flat out at the shop working on the Christmas rush.
Kingy and Dean popped in when passing (like you do) it was so nice to se her as she was a semi permanent fixture in our lives when Laura was at school and it seems strange to see them all sitting and chatting as adults – it seems like only a few months ago they were kids!!
One memorable evening was spent on the party pontoon doing a Christmas cruise on the broad water and adjacent canals seeing all

Christmas at Gold Coast

the Christmas lights, much like you would do at home but on a boat and in the evening warmth of an Australian summer.
Christmas Day ‘Down Under’ was spent with Karen Kev and some family friends Del and Don, not sure of the highlight of the day was the traditional Christmas dinner – yes that’s right turkey and stuffing and all the trimmings not steak and prawns on the beach BBQ! Or could it be the dance off of “The Floss” between me and Kevin, which lead to an injured back – silly boys the harmful effects of alcohol!!!
Boxing morning saw us collect Nico and continue the Christmas festivities which included a day Jet Skiing on the broad water and river at Gold Coast – a real blast.
Then there was a day with Karen on a Rainforest walk and lunch with a lizard and glow worms! Don’t ask me why but Nico was fascinated to see these glow worms – we all settled for lunch accompanied by the most delightful lizards.
30th December was a day in Surfers Paradise shopping and strolling along the beach, followed by a treat in the shape of a Nando’s for supper. The next day was their last ………. So soon. There was Wendy’s Birthday Lunch at Paradise point with that delightful Social Brew burger followed by night-time fireworks, buffet and drinks on

the upstairs balcony to celebrate New Years Eve, wow what a night.
It would be remiss of me not to mention Bob and Jess our Christmas Dog sit, the dogs were pleasant but sadly the house was a bit grubby, so plenty of time was spent at Karen and Kev’s house.
