My diary

With our latest housesitting adventure over we returned to KK’s place where Karen was off with a girlfriend to Tasmania to see a relative for a week. So Wendy took over the Lady of the house mode, whilst Kev and I carried on in our usual carefree manner. We were at work for four days leaving Wendy home alone – I suspect she enjoyed the peace! On Sunday one of our non working days we went out for a long afternoon lunch at Social Brew Paradise Point, sipping 8% pear cider and watching the wealthy playing in their cars. This restaurant is just by a place called Sovereign Island. This small island has an average house price of around 10 million Dollars so the people watching is good fun. There is a plentiful supply of beautiful young woman being driven around by elderly men in lavish vehicles. There are plenty of Bentley coupes and AMG Mercedes as well as Porsche, but my personal favourite was a Lambogeni SUV in bright yellow – why not!!

Tuesday and Wednesday we went crabbing in the bay. Our first attempts were looking for mud crabs but we only managed one and whilst it was a large one it was a female so you are not allowed to keep them. The second attempt saw us land four sand crabs all were big enough to keep and Kev showed us how to cook and prepare them. They made for a beautiful supper alongside some local king prawns. We also managed to squeeze in a first bike ride together, Kev and I set of early one morning and managed around 15K before the heat took its toll and we returned for breakfast. You just see so much more when riding around rather than the car, note to self we must do this more often.
This was the week that we also received the positive news that at long last Alexa’s employers finally gave her a start date after taking an age following up references. So she is now happily employed in London and we are all proud of her. We are also getting excited about Laura and Nico coming to visit us for Christmas which is creeping up on use now. We spent one whole day putting up lights on the party pontoon and house to join in the Christmas spirit. The place is now looking very festive. Not forgetting that next week we are off on a Christmas cruise out of Brisbane.
