Day 1 : The departure

This rainy morning of the 3rd of July, we woke up really early. At 5.30 am, everybody was at the breakfast table. The luggage were all ready, nothing was forgotten. This 3rd of July, this was the big departure, the beginning of our trip to Iceland ! A very long drive was waiting for us, before a couple of days of ferry and then, we would arrive in Iceland. So no waste of time !

We spent almost a whole day in the car ; we get through Belgium, passed Hamburg, and then arrived at Bergen in Norway, where we took a ferry the following day to go to Iceland. The ferry trip took two whole days. We were a bit weary after this long trip, not because of the time difference (there is an hour less in Iceland than in France), but it was worth it !

When we arrived, we went doing some shopping : essentials items like maps, and we changed the money (Iceland use Icelandic crown, the 'króna'). Fortunately, we brought our car by the ferry so we didn't have to rent one in Iceland.

The first night, we slept in Egilsstaðir, a little town next to the ferry's port. We paid for a room and we left the town the day after.
