Australia

Dear all,

I know I said I'd update once a day; well, I'm a liar. But the good news is: this update is about more than one day!

Monday was a quiet day, the jet lag hadn't passed yet (I think it has now, touch wood) and I was up at 4 am... After breakfast, toast with butter and honey, it has become our standard, we went to the shop. My family owns a business called Donut King and it's the biggest out of 320 Donut Kings in Australia! We had a hot chocolate (it's perfectly normal here to have a hot chocolate when it's warm. In Holland, I always get judged when I order a hot chocolate when the temperature reaches higher than 10 degrees.) and Emma and I did some shopping in Robina Town Centre, where Donut King is located. We went home, had some sandwiches for lunch and then played Pictionary with Renee and Ari. After dinner, we watched "Father of the Bride" in their home cinema. They've got a projector and a really large screen! :)

Tuesday, we picked up Renee from University, and were shown around campus. It's a beautiful university. It's next to a lake and if you're studying in the library, you have a beautiful view over the lake. Also, I haven't ever heard anything as quiet as that library, I'm still amazed. After that, we went to surfer's paradise. It is, in fact, not a paradise for surfers, as the waves aren't high enough, but it was perfect for us. The sky wasn't as blue as it could have been, but the temperature was perfect; not too hot, not too cold. After Surfer's Paradise, we went to Broadbeach. We had a coffee and then we went down to the beach. We wrote "DER WERE HERE!" (D=Dorine, E=Emma and R=Renee) in the sand and we touched the Australian sea for the first time!

Today, we're going up the mountains, I think it's called Springbrook Mountain and if I remember correctly, it's a rain forest. As I'm sitting here writing this, basking in the sun that's high up in the sky without a cloud to be seen, I can't help feeling like the luckiest girl in the world.

Have a great day all of you!
