The Sassy llamas
On Thursday morning we got a 4 hour mini bus trip to Santa Marta, we arrived at La Brisa Loca and went in search of dinner, we had fabulous pizzas, salads and fish in Ouzo. We went back to the hostel and showered all set for a quiet night, alas after being roped into a quiz team by two Ozzies it turned into a PJ party. We performed well in the first round, not so well in the second and third - but we learnt some very interesting facts! Our victory ended in a bottle of rum and a rather late night!
Friday am, we got a sweaty truck to Minca, learning a lot about Aidan from Drogheda on the way. First up on the Jungle Jim Trek was a rather muddy and slippy trek to waterfalls for a banyar (swim), we walked back to camp in the POURING rain! After a tasty lunch, Jim took us to a coffee plantation and cocoa factory. We learnt all about the indigenous tribes of the Minca mountains and their third eyes and Mother Nature 'ceremonies', how chocolate is made and a lot about all the different cocaine leaf products (from Aidan and Jim). Also got to meet a German couple who made the permanent move to Minca! Quick dinner & frozen yogurt we prepped ourselves for the beach and took an early night.
