Just prior to leaving the DC area, we checked the weather conditions and knew the next few days were going to be challenging. Along the way, Darryl has lost some significant amount of sleep worrying about how the cold weather might cause busted water pipes, leaks from the snow and rain, carbon monoxide poisoning from running the generator, the tow hitch breaking off with the attached car, or whatever horrible event might occur. Anyone who knows Darryl realizes he is a believer in Murphy's Law.
With my affirmation that all would work out just fine, we packed up and continued our northeast path, driving through Maryland, Delaware and eventually boondocking in a Cabela's parking lot. A shout out to this company who has taken great measures to provide exceptional service to the RV community. They offer outside dog kennels, sewage dump stations, and free overnight RV parking.

After a restful nights sleep, we arose early to begin our final trek to New Jersey where we visited with Darryl’s family over amazing, authentic and never disappointing tomato pie (known as pizza for us Southerners).
As we finalized our next leg of the trip, we encountered another decision point. Stay in NJ until the 4th Nor’Easter passed or keep moving towards Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts where we would ultimately be met with more cold, wet and frigid temperatures. Realizing we likely would only experience a week or two more of wintry weather, we elected to stay on course.
I realize by now some might be questioning the value of visiting so many places that we really couldn’t get out and explore due to the cold temperatures. Why wouldn’t we wait and visit the east coast when it was much warmer, trees in full blossom and a better chance of catching all of the must-see sites. Well, you might recall in an earlier blog that I mentioned I am a goal setter and like achieving set goals regardless if they are professional or personal. I even included a list of 5 goals I wanted to achieve during this trip, one specifically around enhancing my marriage. Some travelers like to do something unique or special when they embark on their worldwide trips, such as eat at every Cracker Barrel, see a host of national monuments, collect postcard or specialty trinkets, take a selfie in front of each state sign, etc. My goal is to “enhance my marriage” in all 48 states we visit. Use your imagination. Wink. Wink. And so, onward we go!
