RV Vegabonds: Our Year-long Adventure

The First Night of Boondocking

You would think that being parked in a 30 ft. RV, in the middle of a gas station, for an extended amount of time, would be discouraged or considered suspicious activity, however, we discovered many gasoline and travel centers that openly welcome RV travelers to park and stay overnight at their centers. This being the first stop of our 450-day, 48 state trip, we looked forward to this new experience. We asked the Love's staff the typical newbie questions, such as can we stay overnight, run our generator, open our slide outs, etc. We were pleasantly surprised and delighted at their generosity, kindness and time spent explaining the rules and practices. Since it was our first time and based on other RV traveler’s recommendations, we decided to leave our slides in for the night and sleep on the top bunk and couch. We realized very quickly this particular truck station gets heavily occupied with commercial semi’s and tractor/trailers, so getting there early was a worthy idea. After a half decent night of sleep, we woke up early to head out to our next stop, Savannah, Georgia.
