The Desert

After dropping Devan off and leaving Las Vegas, we traveled to Ely, NV. We stayed at the KOA for three days and unfortunately didn’t realize we were in the middle of nowhere. Not deterred, we enjoyed the few days of relaxation after having a week of continuous activities.

Our next stop was at the Iron Horse RV Resort in Elko, NV. This was one park we were excited about staying at due to the wonderful amenities. The owner of the park also owned the adjacent Hilton Express which was equipped with a beautiful indoor pool and spa, private business office, workout facility and lounging area. We basically had access to everything the hotel guests had with only a fraction of the price. In fact, the RV site we rented for our 30-day stay only cost $550.

During our stay, we attended the Basque Festival, hiked the Humboldt National Park, rode bikes through the quaint downtown areas, watched rodeo participants practice calf roping, and sampled some local cuisines (Taco and Margarita Tuesdays at the golf resort, sushi and the ice cream parlor) Most of our down time included working out, enjoying the pool/spa, studying for the SHRM certification, watching television outside under the immense stars and meeting neighbors.
