After staying around the local area of Asakusa for the first few days in Japan we decided to venture further afield using the Tokyo metro, which actually didn't prove to challenging.
We headed over to an area called Shibuya which we had heard offered great shops, temples and street life. We arrived in the afternoon and straight away were blown away by the amount of skyscrapers and people. It felt like we had truly arrived at the Tokyo everyone knows.
We walked in between the skyscrapers past an array of western shops and restaurants. We managed to stumble upon a Hooters out of nowhere and took the opportunity to grab lunch which proved to be a great idea. We took a few photos of the building and with the staff as a souvenir. After lunch we headed up towards a shrine just a short walk out of the main shopping district. It was a really nice shrine set back in a park and was well worth the trip.
After visiting the shrine we headed back to the town towards the train, grabbing some great night pictures of the skyscrapers on the way. We jumped back on the train and headed towards Shinjuku. Here we found a great observation tower on the 45th floor of a government building and got a great view of the lit up skyline below. We looked around the area in the night taking in all of the lights and adverts before jumping back on the train to head home. Today we got a look at'Real' Tokyo we have all seen on TV!
