Budapest to Zagreb
Day 22 degrees
Today we traveled from Budapest to Zegreb approx 400 km. Left at 9.30am.
Travelled through some beautiful green countryside to Lake Balaton. 77 kms long between 3 meters to 15 meters deep. This is a holiday area with caravan parks, holiday homes etc. Lots of sailing, wind surfing etc. We stopped for lunch at a very picturesque town. Little shops, church and cafes. Brian and I share a beef open sandwich. Meals can be quite large, it was very nice especially the paprika mayo.
From there traveled onto the border, passport check around 30 minutes, then on to Zagrab arriving around 6.00pm . Hotel is right in shopping mall/square. Very close to old township, great location. We had room looking over the mall area so could see the night life.
Just went down mall to supermarket and had roll/pizza slice for tea. Walked around the mall/squares, had a drink, then off to bed.
Unfortunately woke to wet rainy day, for our walk around the old town and only about 17 degrees. So coats and umbrellas. The guide took us through and showed the lighlights including several important churches. 2 hour tour then free time to wander. Stopped for drink , looked through shops met up with Michael and Seng, join them for a very nice lunch and drinks. Wander more streets, coffee and back to our hotel. Got updates on the footy. Crows won 84 to 48 v GWS Brian having afternoon sleep.
Went back into old city for tea. Just hamburger and club sandwich. Lots more people in town as rain has stopped. Purchased hand made bottle with chef and Zagreb on it around $40.
Up next morning for our trip into Bosina and Herzegovina.
