Plitvice lakes

Nice warm day

Lunch stop was in the town of Trogir which is famous for artists gathering to paint. There was a fort and again old township with alleyway, shops and cafes leading to promenade. Had seafood platter for lunch. Again harbour full of expensive yatchs. Nice little spot.

On to Plitvice lakes with a couple of photo stops along the way. Arrived around 6pm, straight to restaurant for tea, which was not so nice. Soup was like hot water with noodles in it. Pork was not sliced but cut with bone, fatty and cold, sweets was like an apple bread cake which was stogie.

We then had to transfer to smaller mini vans to complete the last 4 kms to our accommodation. Ethno Houses Plitvica Selo located , close to the National park. Cute chalet style rooms, all timber.

Next morning up for our guided tour of the lakes. Beautiful warm day so luckly. There are 16 lakes and multiple waterfalls. Some of the walking was on timber boardwalks, but you had to watch where you were walking due to the uneven surface and the crowds of tourist. This meant a lot of the time your eyes were on your feet and not the scenery. We later heard that a Asian tourist fell in the water during the day. Although this was a very pretty park, it did not have the wow factor that we were lead to believe. Walked about 6 kms around the lakes, then stopped for lunch. From there walked back to the chalets through the park. It was nice but not spectacular.

Had tea in the restaurants which was included. This was the best so far, vegetable soup, steak and mushrooms sauce with a tossed salad and fruit salad for sweets.

Slept very well although did hear the rain early hours.
