Opatija to Bled

We move on to the town of Bled, with a couple of stops along , Postojna Caves and the Mercury museum . Weather cold and raining as we start off.

The caves have 20kms of passages , galleries and chambers filled with 2million year old stalagmites and stalactites formations.

We take a little train 2.5km down into the main cave then with a guide walk though the limestone cave. It is so hugh walked for 1.5km though the caves and this is only what they allow the tourist to see. Back on the train to the top for lunch, great cave to see.

From there we move on to see the Gwewrkenegg Castle built in 1520's and served as the administration for the mercury mine, which is now a museum and also saw some examples of the handmade lace which the locals do.

Arrive at Bled around 5pm. Met Tim and Tina down the street so joined them for tea. Still raining. Nice meal, Brian had a mixed grill and I had seafood spaghetti. Now in to Eruo's

That night the country's basket team was playing in some major competition so the town was rocking. Their team won and we saw some fire works go off from our room. Not professional just some drunks setting them off. It was around midnight before the noise settled down.

Up early so that I could hire bikes to ride around the lake with Tim and Tina. Great ride stopped for lots of pictures, rain came in so got a bit wet, but because we were early we had a lovely peaceful ride, no traffic.
There is an island in the middle , with a church, so really picturesque.

Back to to Hotel to change and get ready for day trip to the Castle above the lake, but due to the wet weather no views from there. Moved onto the Valley of Bohinj. Stopped at Sheppard Museum and tasted some cheese and blueberry brandy. Another quaint little village, very pretty. From there to cable car to top of mountain for view of the lake. Due to rain and fog was a waste of time. Did ask if another option but none, personally would have preferred to stay and wander around the village we were in. Think this was also due to Lunch being included at the top and the guide was compelled to supply. There was only one person serving so lunch took a while not that it mattered as weather shit anyway and had the time to kill.

We are all starting to get sick of being on the bus as we have had a lot of travelling . I have been told 3,500 kms approximately in total.

Back to the hotel by 3.30pm and then walked partway around Bled lake and stopped for drink at cafe high on the hill with great view of
