Bled to Venice via Ljubljana
Another rainy day cold 9 degrees. On the bus by 9.00am
Stopover at the Capital city of Ljubljana the Slovenian captial. Up the cable car to the castle, still raining so not much of a view. Had a 10 minute film about the castle and then a coffee break. Back down for a walking tour of the city. Shame it was still raining as a pretty city. Large walking streets, town squares and lovely shops, big open market but a lot closed due to rain.
Lunch stop at traditional restaurant which was good. Back on the bus 4 hours to Venice. Had a traffice jam along the way, one lane of heavy vehicles lined up for 3 or 4 kms and not moving. Lucky we could get in the fast lane and pass them.
Arrived to the dock for Vience around 4pm then water taxi to hotel. Well it may have once been grand but now old and out of date. Our room is red from top to bottom and every wall, curtain and But a good location.
Bathroom very small, had to squeeze pass hand basin to get to shower. Doors on shower did not slide properly frighten they would either fall out or not open and could get stuck in the shower. So not over impressed with room. Some of the others have also complained.
Out to tea with Tim , Tina, Micheal and Seng. Good meal and company.
Up 7.00am for breakfast which was a bit of a laugh, as the head waitress was a bit of a control freak over the coffee machine, cups etc. You had to do it her way.
Walked to major square Piazza San Marco and to see the Doges Palace and bridge of sighs. Amazing place the paintings on walls and ceilings, the amazing wood doors was something to see. Then into the church which was lined with mosaics pictures using a lot of gold. Also mosaic tiled floors, very opulent.
Left the group 10.30 to walked around by ourselves. In and out of all the lane ways. Had a early lunch then back into the square. By this time the tide had come in and a lot of the square was covered with water. Crossed over on the boardwalk to the promenade and walk the length of this, as this is where most of the souvenirs are.
By this time the square and all other areas are packed with tourist. Last year 35 million visitors

Had another couple of drink stops to rest my feet and went back into the lane ways , did a lot of walking, back at hotel around 5.30pm without getting too lost.
Last dinner with group, risotto, fish and cake including wine, not to bad. Said our goodbyes to the group, some staying on, 5 of us leaving in the morning.
Next morning
After breakfast walked around for about 2 hours. Brian got his leather boots, which look really smart. 150 Eruo approx $210,
Water taxi to airport, takes around 1 1/2 hours several pickup points along the way.
