Dubai and The Jewels of Dalmatia 2017

Continental Hotel Zara
3/9/2017 Dubai- Budapest

Awake at 4.30am which is the call for pray time that can be heard every morning. Transfer to airport 6.00am.
Not over impressed with departure section of airport. Beside being very crowded, there was lack of seating, not enough toilets (and not that clean) lack of room in walkway area. General Kaos. On top of that a 10 to 15 minutes bus trip out to runway to board the plane.

3-5/9/2017
Arrive Budapest 12.35 pm. Imigration, collect luggage and was meant to have transfer pick up but after 45mins no show caught a taxi. 10,000 forint $50

After booking in took a walk around, stopped at supermarket for food for tea and of course beer for Brian. 4 x bread rolls, tomatoes, butter, milk, biscuits, some cold meat, 2 x bottle coke, bottle of dry,( for the brandy we purchase duty free with left over AED money ) cheese spread, mustard, small knife, and 2 beers came to 4,200 forint $21 which i thought pretty cheap

We have an extra day to look around for ourselves, before we start our tour with a meet and greet brinks get together

So had a day trip to town of Szentendre 20 km up river.
Took morning river boat leaving at 10.45am 2 hours up river (Only hour down river if you take the boat back)
OMG such a beautiful township. So old world, cobbled street, market centre, eating cafes and lots of little shops with homemade crafts. Love it so worth the trip and even walking on those cobblestone, as the feet are pretty tender. The streets are decorated and full of flowers.
Took the train back to Budapest 45 mins through the countryside. Back in city just on peak hour 5pm taxi back to hotel 2600 fornit $12.

Meet and greet with traveling companions and Tour guide. Most are age around 65 plus, but they all seem well travelled.

MORNING 9.00am start for city tour.

Drove to Hero square for photo shot and some history of the Statues of Kings. Each of us have been given a portable audio transmitter, which they call whispers, so that you could hear the local guide. From there to the Citadel for view of the city and river, statue of Queen Elizsbeth of Hungary. Then on to the Castles area. Major church and fisherman's bastion. Left the tour for free afternoon, so we stayed to see the underground war hospital, very interesting. Back by bus and taxi to hotel as tea with group.

Tea was about 35mins from town, into forest,. It was like a large barn with corn and peppers hanging from the roof. Meal was cold meats pate potatoe salad, etc. Then a meat soup. Bread. A very sickly cake with brandy in it. A Horrible white wine or red wine. There was some traditional dancing which was very good. Fun night
