In Bruges

Since we had watched the film In Bruges, we were obsessed with the idea of visiting it. We'd considered it as a place of escaping the everyday rush, routine in order to reset thoughts and mind. We had a night bus from Paris to Brussels and then to Bruges, so we were a little tired when we'd arrived at the hotel. We had a shower and fell asleep for 2 hours. Having waken up, we went out in the center. Comparing Bruges to Paris, we noticed that in Bruges we had a more friendly, placid atmosphere. We saw a main square called Markt with the medieval bell tower Belfort, which often played famous tunes. This tower appeared in the final scene of the film. In Markt there were many people, drinking Gluhwein, eating various sweets, sausages and ice-skating. We walked down the paved streets. To be sincere, the old Bruges is small, so it doesn't take much time to walk though it.

While we were watching the canals, we remembered a famous picture of Bruges with the brightened houses, tree and the bell tower on the background. We found it accidentally. My wife saw a bar with the Belgian beers, we took a few glasses and went out on the terrace, having seated beside the tree. There was WiFi, so I found a picture and showed it to a bar women to ask where it was. She laughed and told me that we were sitting right there. So we walked over the canal and took the photos of us with the famous background.

The evening was so great, so we didn't want to go back to hotel, packed with the different Belgian beers. On the next day we got back to Markt to say goodbye and headed to Brussels Charleroi Airport.
