After the visit to Sahastradhara I visited 2 temples one by a river with more stairs to get to the temple than i wish to count.. I definitely did not appreciate the amount of stairs when having to leave the temple!! Between the heat and the ridiculously sized stairs by the top I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I also need to add here that from the top of the stairs you had to go bare foot to get to and around the main temple...the stairs were made of marble..as a result burning the ball of my foot ouch! All the way down the stairs were small rooms where old and I mean OLD!! mean and women would be prayed to and they were all asking for change or food..I didn't have either so it was really hard to explain to at least 20 begging people that I don't have anything particularly when I don't understand them and they don't understand me.. I got to the temple and again no photos allowed I'm guessing that is normal..it was the temple of the monkey god Hanuman one of the most worshipped gods (according to Google hehe) beautiful river again and people all around either praying or posing (the posing is hilarious to watch) It was actually nice for guys to ask me to take their photo rather than be in it.. my god Indians love to pose!!...
After dying from my walk up the hundreds of stairs I was headed to the next temple Tapkeshwar Mandir..and this one you could see before you got there it was HUGE!! Home to Tibetan monks..It was really nice not to be the one being looked at for once...the people around me opted to look at the bald dudes in dresses as you would put it. This place was surrounded by big grand statues with the main temple in the middle of the perfectly cut grass surrounding.. considering the amount of people there it was very quiet and peaceful and the detail on the statues with gold was amazing to look at..and for the first time since I have been here the main language used on the notice boards, information boards etc was English I was actually able to read abit out where I was.. little things ay!!
I also went to a place called Robbers Cave but that was short lived if I new I was meant to be walking through a river into a cave I would have wore the appropriate clothing... Naveer was not happy me being there really hundreds of guys staring at me.. and he didn't want me to go into the river by my self with all the guys (he was in smart clothes) so I kinda went, looked and left.
The Monsoon rain was early for a change rather than it's normal 5pm and my god didn't we know it!! On the way to the last visiting place of the day I thought we were driving through a fast flowing river turned out it was a normal road that had been hit very hard by the rain and I got to experience Indian traffic.. that is everyone go in any and all directions they please and be very friendly with their horns!!
Anyway last place of the day was a musuem of all places.. I didn't knwo what it was but Naveer suggested to go there so I went with it..mainly about the Indian jungle and forests and how they are being preserved blah blah blah not really my cup of tea.. very good place to get high as a kite on the fumes from the preserving liquids they use.. I was away with the fairies most of the way home!! by 5pm I had seen alot of places and experiences alot of things in India..seeing the busier market areas in Dehradun made me nervous I don't know how people cross a road in one piece let alone get get through one of those markets in one piece but hey ho I will have to do it eventually.. till next time...
