The last Finnish item i have eaten thus far is a thing called karelian. This item of food consists of a crunchy shell made of rye (a lot of stuff seems to have rye in it i've noticed), and filled with a rice porrige kind of thing.
The first time i had one i noticed there were different kinds. I could not read the tags they had, but judging by the smell i assume one was a standard and the other one had cheese in the mix.
The one with cheese was not that great, and after tasting the original one, i concluded it tasted a bit like a cold pancake. Only later did i hear from my roommate that you are supposed to put these pastries into the toaster for a little while, and after trying toasting one, i have to admit it greatly improves the taste!
