Wonders of the World Part 1

Today turned into a rest day as we have been waiting on an email from the airlines. We kept checking the website and saw they kept canceling flights as the day went on; but then we saw a plane take off out our window at 4 pm. So Peter got on the phone, but after an hour of waiting for someone to answer, the one who did answer (from Icelandair) said our flight wasn't canceled yesterday (obviously not based in Iceland). So Peter ended up hanging up because he couldn't get anywhere with the guy. We decided we'd have to go to the airport in order to get anywhere, but that's hard with the kids. Just being confined to the house all day has made everyone a little cranky. A few of us are coming down with colds and that doesn't help. So having extra rest today is a blessing and we remain very grateful for the warm safe place to be. Peter braved the weather again and purchased food for today and took some pictures of the ocean. The owner (whose name we learned today is Steinthora) stopped by today and told us we were welcome to stay tonight, but tomorrow she has previously-scheduled guests checking in. Peter ended up going to the airport tonight (found a taxi driver not on strike who would take him since the main road has been opened) to try and get us on a flight. We have heard crickets from the airline. He got the run around and the answer that everything is booked. But they mentioned that we were scheduled on a flight for Friday, but no details. The official email came through late tonight: first thing Friday morning is our new flight. Everything else we have found online is Saturday or after. It's so crazy it will take that long to continue our journey! These next few days should be quite the adventure!
