The Blue Lagoon

Today was supposedly a more relaxed day, but everyone seemed to be cranky pants. That is, until we got to the Blue Lagoon. Then that seemed to wear away and we were able to have fun together!

We slept in, then walked to the town center (just 5 min away) to do some shopping (Peter purchasing a hat today was a must- I wanted my second one back); played at the Blue Lagoon; then had dinner at Grillhusid.

The Blue Lagoon was really neat! It is a swimming area where water

comes from geothermal extraction wells from over a mile under the earth's surface. 70% seawater, 30% fresh water. It's known for its healing properties. But when Addy washed off her silica mud mask, she was very disappointed that the zits on her forehead were still there. :) Clara quickly turned into the Ice Queen because she was the first to have ice on her eyelashes, and her blonde hair highlighted all the ice throughout it! The locker system was a little tricky to figure out, so when I was blow-drying all the girls' hair, the girls took turns helping show other patrons how to work it. So cute they wanted to be so helpful and kind! (You shut your locker, then scan your wristband...just can't be the same time someone else shuts their locker.)

Tonight Peter really wanted to eat some Icelandic cuisine, so we went to a restaurant and he had some lamb, the girls had burgers and fries, and I had a steak.

Favorite things:
Emma: Going everywhere, even the shops.
Clara: My favorite thing was shopping this morning because I got a puffin scarf!
Leesie: I loved the Blue Lagoon because it was super warm.
Addy: My favorite thing was going to the pool because it was really

fun and super warm! And I really liked shopping! I found SUPER pretty earrings today.
Kathy: I liked walking around the center of town (they have lots of Christmas decorations because electricity is so cheap here!), and putting a mud mask on at the Blue Lagoon was fun!
Peter: My favorite was snuggling Kathy at the Blue Lagoon.

Miracles:
-We didn't kill each other when everyone was cranky pants. ;)
-Even with all the changing, showering, showering again, blow drying, waiting etc, the girls did well at the Blue Lagoon; and we had to drag them out of the water when it was time to go.
-We got right into the restaurant tonight- no waiting! Amazing!! Especially since another restaurant couldn't accommodate us for another 3 hours!
