Wonders of the World Part 1

The trick to life is trying to embrace the messy and find joy in the present. It's something I'm always trying to get better at, and I felt the Spirit directing me to embrace our time here and try and just enjoy it with my loved ones. Today we woke and Peter called the airline first thing- there was mention of potentially more planes coming in today, and we had a small hope that we could get on an earlier flight. But the airline phones were shut off with just a message saying to check your email for updates. I can't say I blame them. So we decided to embrace it. We thought about trying to find a rental car, but all the roads to the Golden Circle are still closed, and heading down south

Joy In The Journey

The trick to life is trying to embrace the messy and find joy in the present. It's something I'm always trying to get better at, and I felt the Spirit directing me to embrace our time here and try and just enjoy it with my loved ones. Today we woke and Peter called the airline first thing- there was mention of potentially more planes coming in today, and we had a small hope that we could get on an earlier flight. But the airline phones were shut off with just a message saying to check your email for updates. I can't say I blame them. So we decided to embrace it. We thought about trying to find a rental car, but all the roads to the Golden Circle are still closed, and heading down south

with the detours would take hours and hours. And it's still quite windy (down to 28 mph winds though). So we talked to Steinthora (pronounced Stane-thora) and told her our flight is Friday. She interrupted and said she had arranged it so we can stay until then! She said the couples upstairs had gotten flights today (I think because we are so many they can't fit us on current flights like they can a couple of people) and the family that booked already can stay upstairs so we don't have to move! Amazing!! We weren't sure we'd be able to find anywhere else to stay for so many of us, so that is just a heaven-send!! We also found out that before we called to inquire about booking this place on Monday, two couples had called minutes before us and booked it. She told Peter "maybe", called the other couples back (who were from different countries and didn't know each other) and asked if they would possibly share the upstairs so a family could have shelter also. They agreed! Bless their souls!!! Then she called Peter back and told him yes! Our gratitude is filled to

overflowing! Gratitude for the couples, for Steinthora and Isak, and for God's watchful care over us.
Steinthora also told us about the Tuus museum and a swimming pool in town, so when the sun came up we bundled up and walked down a lot of the main street and browsed some of the shops, went in the museum, saw the ocean, stopped at the grocery store (everyone got to choose a treat), and came back home for lunch and to relax. Our "big" family was quite a sight to the locals and several of them stopped to talk to us, which was fun. Their method of clearing the sidewalks/main street of snow was quite interesting to me! We have only seen 3 snowplows our whole time here.
One thing that was most interesting to a couple of our crew was a movie theater on Main St. with an Avatar 2 advertisement. They were closed at the time, but Peter looked it up later and saw a showing at 5 pm in English. So Addy, Leesie, and I went to see it tonight. The girls have been talking about it for weeks, so it was pretty fun they could see it so soon after it came out (5 days). The theater was freezing and the volume was way loud, but they loved it!! :)
After we tucked the older girls in bed, Addy came out with one of her molars in hand! She had mentioned earlier today it felt loose, but coming out this quickly was a big surprise!
